The beauty of a Monday morning is that the possibilities for the week are endless. When the week begins we know some things we want to do (like grab dinner with a friend), other things we need to do (like clean the house), and even more things we have to do (like go to work). But, what we don’t know is what will happen to us or how the decisions of others will change what we end up doing for the week. So, we take stock and hope for the things we want to happen, and we go.
In recent discussions with friends, there are lots of things we each want that are big things. They aren’t things that will happen in a week or even a month, sometimes even a year. Things like wanting a new job, wanting to move to a new city, wanting to get married, wanting to get a dog, and wanting to get pregnant. Big things right?!
During one of these recent discussions, I stumbled upon this quote in my Five Minute Journal and sent it to my friend – it was as much for her as it was for me. I truly believe that if I want something all the universe will conspire in helping me achieve it; because if I want it badly enough, I personally will do everything I can to get there. For example, after my four months in New Zealand (more details on that here), I moved to San Francisco and took a job at an online retail company. It wasn’t my dream job, but I liked the mission of the company and thought it would give me digital experience that would benefit me in the long run. Long story short, it wasn’t the job for me and I ended up going part time because I was so miserable and found a job at a coffee shop to continue to pay rent. And at this coffee shop, I met someone who thought I was awesome and would be a good fit for this company he knew back in Washington, DC. And I was! Not only did I get the job and have been at that company for 5 years, I was able to move to a city with good friends and actually date my now husband.
With some of these big things, the control you have is minimal, which is just so tough! I am learning that sometimes doing everything I can means being patient and having faith. Sometimes there isn’t really anything to do, no real action to take, besides staying positive and open-minded.
We will all get to where we are going and we are all meant to be exactly where we are. So think BIG, because the universe is waiting to be of assistance.
