I was on a run when I heard Dale Partridge say this phrase in an interview on The School of Greatness podcast, which Tiffany recommended in last week’s Loving Lately. I literately stopped in my tracks and smiled. They were exactly the words that I needed to hear that day.
You never know when inspiration will hit you, or when someone says a simple phrase that springs you into action. There have been quite a few transitions in my life recently – changing my job, starting a different workout routine, preparing to send a kid off to college. And while I am not afraid of change, and am so excited about all these changes, it doesn’t mean there won’t be difficult moments where I question the direction I am headed. And why do we question the path?! Because it is HARD! Sometimes the path is uphill and regardless of how fast we run we don’t get there any faster.
There is another way to think about this quote though – that a path that is new, that has yet to be traveled, is dark. So, in order to do something new, you have to go into the darkness. This blog was a dark path for us, but it is slowly and surely being lit. We still aren’t sure of the ending, but we are loving the process and the experience.
For this week, I am taking this quote with me and giving myself some grace during this time of transition and of learning new things. If we don’t push ourselves, who will?!
What is your goal for yourself this week?!
