Happy Monday, everyone!
Now that we’re deep into summer, I can really tell the difference in how I feel when I can enjoy the outdoors vs. huddling inside hiding from the cold during the winter. It feels so good to be able to go outside and enjoy our backyard while the girls swing on the swings or sit in the sun at the neighborhood pool (well, my current life at the pool is more like wrangling an energetic 1 year while watching our 4 year old, but same thing, right!). For me, if I really stop and enjoy the fresh air of the outdoors, I find it much easier to relax and let go of the stress of everyday life. Bonus points if I put down my phone while I’m doing it!
The picture in the background here is actually from exploring a park area that is about a mile from our house. The girls had the best time exploring nature and it reminded me how important it is to get outside. When I was their age, there was no iPad or “On Demand” TV or even computers in our home so I spent a lot of time outside. I played in the woods making forts and trails or rolled down the big hill in our backyard. I want to encourage them to enjoy being outside too even if we have no woods or big hill in our backyard.
There’s not a lot more to say about this except – get outside and enjoy the summer weather!
