Happy Monday, everyone!
I’ve been doing a 30 day meditation challenge this month with KC Carter. I’ve had days where I felt so good about how I’m doing in quieting my mind and relaxing my body while meditating and I’ve had days where I can’t get the thoughts to slow down, but for maybe two seconds! Regardless, one of my favorite guided meditations that I’ve found is called “Favourite place of relaxation” by Andrew Johnson (find it on iTunes or the Insight Timer app). Every time I listen, I am surprised at the end when he says “Be good to yourself.” Isn’t that the best ending? Sometimes I really need it. Like after a rough time quieting my mind. Instead of feeling frustrated that I didn’t do as well I wanted to, I am reminded “Be good to yourself.”
That’s such a good mantra for life really. I’m so good at tearing myself down for the things that I haven’t done, what I could improve, how I should have handled things differently, etc. Forget others for the moment, be good to YOURSELF. When I’m reminded of this, I can think of all the things I AM doing. I’m challenging myself to meditate every day even when it’s difficult to fit in. I’m still drinking my green smoothies every day. I stopped eating french fries in October and haven’t gone back. I’m working on a new project with Becca that puts us back in the extreme learning phase of things (which I love!). I’m trying to take care of my family and feed them healthy foods. I even worked out a couple times this week. Oh hey, self, you’re actually doing pretty well!
Anyway, I want you to have this same reminder. Be good to yourself. Now go have a great week!
